New patients

Visiting a podiatry office for the first time can bring questions, especially when you have foot or ankle pain. At The Foot Center, Inc., we want you to feel comfortable and prepared for your first visit. Our experienced podiatrists take the time to understand your concerns, review your medical history, and recommend care tailored to your needs.

With more than 40 years of experience serving Virginia, we provide foot and ankle care for individuals and families. Our five convenient locations across the Richmond and Greater Richmond areas, as well as Kilmarnock, make it easier to find care close to home.

What to Expect During Your First Visit

Your first appointment begins with a discussion about your symptoms, medical history, and daily activities. Our podiatrist will examine your foot or ankle to understand your condition better. X-rays or ultrasound imaging may be recommended as needed to aid diagnosis and treatment planning.

After your evaluation, we will explain our findings and discuss your treatment options. Depending on your condition, care may include medication, supportive footwear, custom orthotics, or other non-surgical treatments. Surgery may be considered when necessary.

Please arrive about 15 minutes before your appointment and bring the following items:

  • Photo ID and insurance card
  • A list of your current medications
  • Referral paperwork, if required
  • Relevant medical records and previous X-rays, if available
  • Shoes you regularly wear, especially if they relate to your foot concerns

Insurance and Payment Options

The Foot Center, Inc. accepts many major insurance plans. Our team can help you verify your insurance coverage and understand any potential out-of-pocket costs before treatment.

If you have questions about your insurance benefits, payment responsibilities, or coverage for a recommended service, please contact our office before your appointment. We are happy to help you understand your options and prepare for your visit.

Personalized Foot and Ankle Care

Every patient has different concerns, so we create treatment plans based on your condition, health history, and daily needs. Our podiatrists provide care for common foot problems, sports injuries, diabetic foot concerns, wounds, and conditions that may require surgery.

We also offer custom orthotics and diabetic footwear fitted in-house. For certain conditions, Cold Laser Therapy may be recommended as a non-invasive option to help manage pain and inflammation.

Convenient Appointments for New Patients

With five locations serving the Richmond and Greater Richmond areas, as well as Kilmarnock, we aim to make foot care more accessible for you and your family.

Whether you need help with a new injury, ongoing discomfort, or a condition affecting your mobility, our team is here to explain your options and guide you through your care.
